Dr Gurbakhsh Singh Ji (USA) at GTBIT
It was a jam packed hall to listen the famous and renowed sikh scholar Dr Gurbakhsh Singh Ji of USA at our college. The Seminar by Dr Gurbakhsh Singh Ji was a two hour long but when the true people speak hours pass like minutes. The most inspring talk from Dr Gurbakhsh Singh Ji was the incident of his post graduation day at IOWA state University, USA. The day on which he got his doctorate degree he made all of us proud.
Dr Gurbakhsh Singh Ji told us that all around him all people were wearing those hats which noramlly people wear to collect their degrees. Being a sikh he was wearing a turban. A Journalist approached him saying why aren't you wearing the hat which you earned after four years of hard work? (Normally people take 4 years to complete Phd). Dr Gurbakhsh Singh Ji told the reporter that with god'sgrace he completed his Post Graduation in 2 years only. The Reporter asked the same question again saying why aren't you wearing the hat which you earned after two years of hard work?
Dr. Gurbaksh Singh Ji replied that you talk of the hat I earned in 2 years dont you see the crown (turban) I'm wearing which my Gurus earned in 200 years of making sikhism. The next day graduation report in the newspaper was diplayed inside it and his photo got published on the front page with the cap in his hand which photographer gave him with the caption (The sikh wearing the crown (turban) which his Gurus earned in 200 years of making sikhism)
